xylography
Teacher with birch as a symbol of status with two sholars. Xylography from: Brack, Vocabularius rerum (Augsburg, Schönperger d.Ä., 1495).
The theologist from Leibnitz kept the theological faculty, which was in bad shape after reformation, going. The picture shows a rare view of a Viennese lecture hall with a pulpit for the lecturer and a table in the background, with a chained library („libri catenati“).
